COVID-19 Antiviral Therapeutic Medicine

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for antiviral medications by Pfizer and Merck for the treatment of COVID-19 infection. We have received COVID-19 therapeutics in all of our pharmacy locations.

If you have a prescription for a COVID-19 therapeutic, please present it to the pharmacy team and, where possible, use the drive thru or walk-up window.

While these oral medications have been shown to be effective in reducing hospitalization and death, vaccines remain the most effective tool we have for preventing severe illness. Vaccines are conveniently available in all locations. If you have yet to receive your COVID-19 vaccine, make an appointment today.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

This medication must be started within 3-5 days of symptoms onset and will require testing by a prescriber to receive a prescription. Once a valid prescription is written, patients can take it to select pharmacies. Since current supply is limited, having a valid prescription does not guarantee the product will be at your local pharmacy.

While the medication is to be provided at no charge to the patient, the testing, diagnoses, and prescribing steps fall under traditional care services, through our clinics or other providers. Patients may need to pay for those visits or provide necessary insurance information to cover the visit. Pharmacies will bill your insurance plan for the handling and distribution of the medication. If you do not have insurance, you will not be charged for the therapeutic medication.

Select pharmacies are not allowed to put this medication on hold for patients with valid prescriptions. It’s best to go to the pharmacy drive thru or walk up window directly after your appointment as medication will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

Please visit the manufacturers’ websites for details on each medication:
